Other Services

Sometimes families need help with everyday tasks. Children's Cancer Center patients and families can tap into several serviced offered by University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Interpreters

Children's Cancer Center and UMMC can provide interpreters free for patients who do not speak English well. Your doctor has access to a Spanish interpreter and can call a Choctaw liaison. If you speak other languages, your doctor has access to interpreters through a language line phone service. Those interpreters, credentialed and skilled in medical terminology, speak 204 languages. Arrangements also can be made for an interpreter for the deaf, use of a TTD or other materials for the hearing-impaired and for materials in Braille for the blind. If possible, you or a family member should let your social worker or doctor’s office know you will need an interpreter when you make your appointment.

Pharmacy

Children's Cancer Center patients may use either of the two pharmacies on UMMC's campus. The pharmacies can fill prescriptions from any UMMC provider. The pharmacies honor most prescription plans and accept Visa and MasterCard. You can refill prescriptions by calling the automated pharmacy refill line 24 hours a day.
